This post is all about the best pregnancy gifts and gift basket ideas!
When someone around you announces that they are pregnant it is such great news!
They are about to embark on a new adventure, no matter if they are going to be first-time moms or if they already have children.
If you haven’t experienced a pregnancy or don’t have a child/children yourself you might be a bit lost in the jungle that is the business around products for children. There are so many products out there that it’s sometimes hard to navigate the handy ones from the many more superfluous ones.
The goal of this post is to give you ideas for the perfect pregnancy gift for expectant mothers. Pick and choose your favorites and twist them to best suit the pregnant woman in your life.
Without further ado: here is the list of pregnancy gifts and gift basket ideas for pregnant women!
Best pregnancy gifts and gift basket ideas
Let’s start with gifts that would be best suited for expectant moms during their pregnancy, then we’ll move to gifts for the postpartum period. These gifts would be different from baby-related gifts you could find on the new parents’ baby registry or for a baby shower.
Pregnancy can be a very exciting time (provided you are not suffering from morning sickness or other inconveniences). These gift ideas are meant to be a thoughtful gift for the mom-to-be to make this time even more special.

Pregnancy gift basket
Pregnancy is a long journey, so a well-thought-out gift basket can be a great way to show your support and your love.
The wonderful thing is that depending on the person, you can fully personalize this gift.
Pampering
You could go down the self-care and pampering route. When you’re pregnant you don’t always feel your best and yourself depending on the symptoms you might be experiencing. Receiving a gift basket to help you find your glow back can be the perfect way to make that special lady feel special.
You don’t have to splurge on high-end or very niche products. You could put things like a nice lip balm, a face mask, or a nice silk sleep mask. If they don’t have one already a reusable water bottle can be a great gift. The bottle can be used during pregnancy because hydration is very important, but also to take in your hospital bag and postpartum. The nice thing about the reusable water bottle is that there are so many options out there and you could even personalize the bottle.
Pregnancy
Another quite popular item that would be great is a cream or oil to avoid stretch marks. You can find many different creams and oils depending on your budget. Besides those items, dry brushing could be a great option to support the stretching of the skin. You can find a great option for a dry brush I have been using for several years on my recommendations page.
Other things you could have in the gift basket are herbal teas and healthy snacks. You could even throw in a nice mug to go along with the teas. Again this one can be personalized to the mother-to-be.
Gift baskets can be a real special gift if you take the time to personalize their content. If you are not sure about what to put in it you could check if one of your or your pregnant friend’s beloved brands has a pre-made gift basket. Etsy is also a great place to look at!

Gift card
If you are not sure that you could prepare a personalized gift basket, and if you want something less cumbersome to gift, a gift card could be a great option.
A gift card is always useful and is always appreciated. You leave the expectant mama to decide on what she will need.
There are so many gift card options: for a massage, for a mani-pedi, for a restaurant that she loves. The list goes on and on.
Another option for a gift card could be for a pregnancy photoshoot. They can be a bit pricy and you don’t also splurge on those for yourself, however, the photos are always great to look back on (by both the parent and the child once it is older).
You just have to find the perfect brand and see if they do a gift card.

Pregnancy pillow
A pregnancy pillow is not a must during pregnancy, however, it’s a very practical gift and it can be used during the many months of pregnancy and postpartum.
It will really be of great comfort, especially towards the end of the pregnancy, to help the expectant mother sleep.
If you choose it well, it can also be a great support for feeding the new baby (breastfeeding or bottle feeding).
I started using my pregnancy pillow towards the start of my fifth month of pregnancy. You could start using it even sooner, but it was a great time to start using it at night.
The pillow I chose is multipurpose. I wanted something that would support me during my pregnancy, for sleeping, and during the day for the last stretch of my pregnancy. I also wanted a pillow that I could use to support me in feeding my baby. An added bonus was that the below allowed you to safely attach and lay your baby on the pillow during the day.

Pregnancy massage or a spa gift box
Gifting a massage can be a bit tricky during pregnancy. It is not recommended to have a full body massage in the first trimester. In fact, many spas and massage places will refuse to book you in those early stages of pregnancy.
It’s when the expecting mom enters her second trimester that she can have a full-body massage (adapted for pregnancy). Not all spas offer massages for pregnant women, so you need to do your research first.
You can find different types of body massages. Some will focus on legs (especially helpful if the pregnant mama is suffering from heavy legs and bad blood circulation), and others can be full body.
If you are not sure, you can always book a facial, which is the same whether you are pregnant or not. The facial is a great option during the first trimester.

Pregnancy Journal
Pregnancy is a journey, and the pregnant woman in your life might be into documenting the process.
There are many different options for pregnancy journals out there. They help track the full process: from when you found out you were pregnant to when the baby is born and all the in-between.
You could go for the already-made options, or if you are feeling more creative, it could be a great idea to make your own and gift it to the mom-to-be. This could really be perfect if your pregnant wife/friend/family member is into scrapbooking. She will be able to really make it her own and special.
Besides the journal in itself, you could create an even more unique gift by adding things to make the journal even more personal (sticky tapes, stickers…) or even a Polaroid camera to allow mom-to-be to have printed pictures of her pregnancy journey.
She will also be able to continue using the camera once the baby is here to continue documenting the journey in her journal.
Gifts and gift basket ideas for the postpartum period
Some prefer to offer a gift once the baby is born rather than during the pregnancy. Here are a few options you might want to consider and that would be great ideas for the postpartum recovery and the beginning of this new journey your wife/friend/family member will go on.

Postpartum gift basket
There are quite a few products out there targeted for the postpartum recovery journey. Depending on the type of birth that the new mom will have had, those could vary.
You could be into very labor-related things such as peri bottles, disposable underwear, or ice packs. You can find a few brands out there (Frida Mom for example) that have postpartum packs that could come in very handy in making that journey easier. There a less glamorous than your typical gift basket, but they could be a great gift option.
If you are not sure about a gift basket for postpartum care, you could go the pampering route. You could build your own perfect and personalized gift basket with bath salts or bath bombs, face masks, and body lotion. For body lotion, shea butter base ones are a great option. They are very rich and can be a great support in supporting the elasticity of the new mom’s skin.
Another possible route you could go is a food-related gift basket. The recovery journey can be a painful one and anything to support that process and make it easier will most certainly be appreciated by the new mom. It could be a fruit basket, or something more targeted toward postpartum like bone broths, breastfeeding bars, teas, and vitamins. If you are in France, you can go for brands such as Jolly Mama which offer postpartum gift sets specifically dedicated to helping support mama in her recovery.

Gift cards
Besides things for the new mom’s postpartum journey, there will be many things new parents will have to purchase. A gift card to any childcare store will be greatly appreciated.
Consider also a gift card to a specific restaurant the new mom might particularly enjoy (and maybe she could not have that specific food during her pregnancy). She will be too tired to cook and going to the restaurant might be a challenge at first, but takeout can be a great option!
As mentioned above a gift card for a pregnancy photoshoot can be a great idea. Similarly, a gift card for a newborn photoshoot could be a great gift card idea. The pictures look great and can then be used on cards for family and friends. They will be lifelong memories.
If you are not sure about the ideas listed below, you could do homemade gift cards. They are like coupons for things you could do personally for the new mom or the new parents. A great idea would be to gift some of your time for when the new parents need to step out without the baby. It could be for their date night, an appointment, or just to take a nap for a few hours. This is usually greatly appreciated by new parents. Maybe not in the first months, but at some point, they will be ready for some alone time. Your coupon will come in very handy!
